Wedding
Band vs. DJ
Here
are some things to consider when deciding between a band
and DJ for your reception music...
Consider Your Budget
The cost for bands and djs will vary based on
the city, number of performers, day and time. While
DJs are typically cheaper than a live wedding band,
the experience and atmosphere created by a Band versus
DJ is very different. Remember whether you select
a wedding band or a DJ you will typically get what
you pay for. You don't want to skimp in this area
because the entertainment can make or break your
night. An experienced band leader or DJ will keep
your reception moving smoothly and your guests
dancing the night away.
Consider Music Variety
When it comes to music for your reception you will want
a good mix of fast and slow, old and new, and songs
that everyone will know and dance to!
Whether
you are considering a band or DJ, you should always ask
for a sample CDs or DVDs, song lists, and references.
Think about the songs that you absolutely have to hear
at your reception, for the first dance, etc., if the
band or
DJ isn’t willing to get or learn them then
look elsewhere!
Consider Your Reception Location
Check with your reception site
for any restrictions. Some reception sites have noise
limitations and electrical power supply restrictions.
You need to ask these questions before you start the
entertainment search.
Also consider the amount of
room available at your reception site for the band or
DJ to set up. Be sure that you have enough space for
your band or DJ to setup, and still have room to dance
the night away without falling all over each other.
Bottom
line whether you decide
on a live band or DJ make sure that they are experienced
professionals. The entertainment can make your wedding
a joyous celebration or a miserable flop. Do your research,
call around and possibly even go see the entertainers
perform to help make your decision.
