The train bearers
are young boys or girls most often between the ages
of four and nine. They
are typically used in very formal weddings where the
bride's train is exceptionally long. Train bearers
are often used in pairs...one on either side of the
bride's train.
What is the train bearer's
role?
The train bearer directly
follows the bride in the processional. He
or she carries and arranges the bride's train. The
train bearer typically does not stand in the receiving
line.
What is the role of the train
bearer's parents?
The parents should pay
for his/her wedding attire. The train bearer's
parents are responsible for bringing him/her to
the wedding and rehearsal unless other arrangements
are made. After the ceremony, the
parents are responsible for him/her again.
What
pre-wedding events should the train bearer attend?
The train bearer should
attend the rehearsal, but he/she does not need to attend
the rehearsal dinner. Make sure that he/she gets lots
of practice and guidance at the rehearsal to help eliminate
wedding day mishaps.
