The ring bearer is most often a young,
male relative or son of a close friend typically between
the ages of three and eight.
What is the ring bearer's
role?
The ring bearer directly
precedes the bride in the processional. He may walk
alone or with the flower girl. He typically
carries a decorative pillow with the "wedding rings"
fastened to the top. The
ring bearer typically does not stand in the receiving
line.
Note: The rings that the ring bearer carries on
the pillow are fake and only for decoration. The
real ones are held by the best man and/or the maid of honor.
What is the role of the ring
bearer's parents?
The parents should pay
for the ring bearer's wedding attire. The
parents are also responsible for bringing him to
the wedding and
rehearsal, unless other arrangements are made. The
ring bearer should be included with the groomsmen
in the
rehearsal, wedding transportation,
and photography. After the ceremony, the
parents are responsible for him again.
What
pre-wedding events should the ring bearer attend?
The
ring bearer should
attend the rehearsal,
but he does not need
to attend
the rehearsal dinner. Make sure that he gets lots
of practice and guidance at the rehearsal to help
eliminate wedding day
mishaps.
